Here you will learn all of the options you have to get Alarm Monitoring Options for an ADT Safewatch Pro 2000 hardwired alarm control panel?
The ADT SafeWatch Pro 2000 is not actually manufactured by ADT, in reality, it is really a Honeywell Vista-20SE security system that has been re-branded for them. Either way, this system is a bit of an older system for today's standards and has limited feature capabilities. The Safewatch Pro 2000 security system is not able to be remotely programmed by any dealer because this panel cannot be compassed. Compass is the software that authorized dealers use to remotely access alarm control panels for programming. The biggest limitation of this system is the fact that it does not support Total Connect 2.0. Total Connect 2.0 is a feature that allows you to control your security system such as arming, disarming, receiving text & email notifications among other features remotely from your smart devices. There is a new ADT branded alarm panel called the Safewatch Pro 3000 which can support Total Connect 2.0 if you swap the panels EPROM chip. Even the Safewatch Pro 3000 is not manufactured by ADT it is a Honeywell Vista-20P security system.
If you are content with staying with your Safewatch Pro 2000 system you will have three options to obtain Professional Alarm Monitoring Services.
Option 1 - You can sign up for our No Contract Phone Line Alarm Monitoring which is where we will take over your existing system with all of its wired and/or wireless sensors. If you plan on having phone line monitoring services make sure that you have an active dial tone line running into the tip and ring terminals on the main alarm control panel. With phone line monitoring services end-users will not have any access to any smart phone features via Total Connect 2.0. Another option end-users may be wanting to use is VOIP alarm monitoring services. This falls under option one because VOIP is still to be looked at as the same thing as a phone line. GeoArm doesn't support VOIP services providers such as OOMA, MagicJack or Vonage. GeoArm doesn't recommend going with either of these monitoring options because they are the least reliable. If an intruder was to cut your phone line or cut your main power box before entering there is a great chance the alarm system won't be able to transmit alarm signals back to the central monitoring station.
Option 2 - The second option you have is to wire a Telguard Tg-1 Express cellular alarm communicator directly into the tip and ring terminals of the Safewatch pro 2000 system. Once the Tg-1 express has been installed to the main control panel you can power the system back up. From there you will provide the serial number listed on the back of the Tg-1. That serial number will allow us to activate the communicator in our back-end Telguard dealer software and allow for cellular alarm monitoring. From there we will place your account on test and have you trigger your alarm so that we can verify we have received alarm signals.
Another option that falls under this category would also be with a TG-1 express. Instead of wiring the Tg-1 into the tip and ring terminals of the Safewatch pro 2000 end-users would need to wire two wires into an extra available zone of the main board. By wiring the Tg-1 in this way it will allow end-users access to Telguard home control interactive alarm monitoring services. Home control is the application Telguard uses to remotely control the security system using smart phones.
Option 3 - If you are interested in using Total Connect 2.0 or Alarm.com Z-Wave Home automation services you will have to upgrade the alarm control panel. The direct replacement for the ADT Safewatch Pro 2000 is the Honeywell Vista-20P wired security system with a 6160 programming keypad. The Vista-20P will allow you to add an array of different alarm communicators such as Honeywell Alarm Communcators. Honeywell alarm communicators will be wired directly into the board and once completed end-users will enjoy Total Connect 2.0 services.
Another fantastic option for adding interactive monitoring services to the Vista 20p would be using an Alarm.com SEM Module. The SEM is an alarm communicator manufactured by Alarm.com to directly let end-uses use the Alarm.com interactive monitoring services instead of Total Connect 2.0. One of the advantages with these options is we will be able to remotely access your alarm control panels programming remotely using Compass or alarm.com dealer site which makes for much easier DIY troubleshooting. If you are interested in learning more about upgrading to a new panel we recommend reading our Honeywell Vista 20p monitoring options article.
Option 4 - There are also other options for upgrading your Safewatch Pro 2000 security system such as using a hardwired to wireless converter along with an all-in-one wireless security system. If you have more questions or wish to have other options displayed to you feel free to contact us.
