This video shows you how to install the Honeywell L5100-ZWAVE module into the Honeywell LYNX Touch L5210 wireless security system.
To install the Honeywell L5100-ZWAVE module go ahead and turn the security system on its side. Depress the two tabs on the top of the L5210 wireless security system. Now that you have the system opened with the insides exposed you will need to power down the system. To do this safely unplug either you LT-CABLE or your power transformer wire from the terminal block's. You will see that your wireless security system still has power that is because you must also unplug your backup battery. After you have completely powered down your Honeywell L5210 wireless security system its time to install the Honeywell L5100-ZWAVE module. You will notice on the actual Honeywell L5100-ZWAVE module there is a black female port. Line this female port up with the male slot directly on the Honeywell L5210 mother board. It will be located on the opposite end of the speaker and it will be lined with gold stripes. The module should slide gently into place holding its self in. Next, plug in your LT-CABLE or wire in your power transformer wire into the correct terminals "there is polarity so make sure you insert wire ends in correct terminals" and plug back in your alarm backup battery. Seal your Honeywell L5210 wireless security system closed and to expedite the booting process hold down the solid home button for 3 seconds. If you click the home automation button from the home screen you will now notice that there is a whole new menu available that was not in place before the installation.
In order to control the home automation features of this wireless security system remotely, you must have present either the Honeywell L5100-WIFI internet communicator, the 4GL cellular communicator, 3GL cellular communicator or a combination of both communication modules. The reason you must have either the internet, cellular or dual path setup with your Honeywell LYNX Touch L5210 wireless security system is because you must have a Honeywell AlarmNet Total Connect 2.0 account in order to sync your alarm system data to the remote software. Lastly, you must also have the Honeywell L5100-ZWAVE module in place as this is what will actually allow your z-wave home automation devices communicate with your Honeywell LYNX Touch L5210 wireless security system. View the video above to show you just how to install the Honeywell L5100-ZWAVE module.
Honeywell AlarmNet home automation with your Honeywell LYNX Touch L5210 wireless security system will activate features such as being able control z-wave lights, locks, garage doors and thermostats all with the touch of a button. Setup home automation scenes and rules to allow multiple z-wave devices to speak to each other. For example lets say you set a scene labeled arrive home. When you select the scene arrive home from your smart device your system can simultaneously disarm the alarm, turn on your kitchen light, hall light and lower the thermostat to your preset desired temperature. The focus of these features is to give you an added level of security by not arriving to a dark home and also to save you money on your monthly energy bill.
