This video shows you how to program a Honeywell 5816 entry exit 2 to a window using the Honeywell LYNX Touch L5210 wireless security system. Remove the Honeywell 5816 from its packaging box, remove the front cover by depressing the tab on the contact, write down the 7 digit serial number, insert the battery, seal the cover back up.

To program: From the home screen select security, more, tools, installer code "default code is 4112", program, zones, highlight first available zone or add new, select serial number, input the serial number, loop number is 2, assign zone description, device type is window, response type is entry exit 2, report yes, select chime type, supervision supervised, save, back, yes, exit to the home screen. That's how you program a Honeywell 5816 to a window using the entry exit 2 setting.

The Honeywell 5816 window contact is a two zone wireless transmitter with both built-in magnetic reed switches and wired closed circuit contact loop. It Features a standard white plastic case “a brown case is available in packs of three 5816BR” and included is a supervised replaceable CR123 battery.

If you are programming a window contact into the security system you will have a few different options as to how you can program the contact to react if triggered. Entry exit 2 delay means when you open a window you will have an extended amount of time to deactivate the system before the security system goes into an alarm. In this video we programmed it with an entry exit 2 which will give you 60 seconds to disable the system before the alarm is triggered. Click the link in the video to see how to change the default 60 second delay.

The Honeywell 5816 contacts are one of the larger contacts that Honeywell develops aesthetically but, for overall usage the 5816 contact is a great addition to your wireless security system. The Honeywell 5816 has a large antenna, which gives you a better connection back to the Honeywell L5210 system.

A cool feature that the Honeywell 5816 has is its ability to carry one hardwired contact. This means if you have multiple windows you want to protect but only want to use one wireless contact your can. Simply use additional wired contacts, wire them in series into the Honeywell 5816 and program the contact as a loop one instead of loop 2. This means anytime any of those hardwired contacts are opened they will send their signals to the Honeywell 5816, the Honeywell 5816 will than wirelessly send that data to the Honeywell L5210 wireless security system.
